Southern Chaos follows the lives of hosts Josh Galt and Garrett Hartley. Josh is a successful hunting and fishing guide who takes pride in his Louisiana heritage. Garrett is an NFL kicker for the Cleveland Browns who is learning to tackle the outdoors with the same accuracy he practiced with on the field. Whether they’re pursuing colossal gators on the Mississippi basin, speeding after evasive hogs on their airboats or smashing varmint on a local golf course, these boys aren’t afraid to break the mold and get a little messy.
This season the duo is introducing another player to the mix. Josh and Garrett will be joined by longtime outdoorsman and south Texas hunt operator, Stephen West. With a thirst for adventurous big-game hunts, Stephen aims to be a perfect match for the madness of Southern Chaos.
Southern Chaos is not your average hunting show. Thanks to the Robertsons, the Sheltons and other major industry movers, the doors have flung open to an entirely new demographic. Audience interest in the unpredictable nature of reality, with all its ups and downs, has boomed in the past few years. Southern Chaos blends the unique flavor of the Louisiana outdoor lifestyle with all the addictive quirks and quips of reality television.
However, access to a new demographic also provides an opportunity to wash away stigma and show the nation that there’s more to hunting than waiting for bambi to trot out of the woods. With Josh’s expertise on his native Louisiana’s ecosystems, the show also aims to teach viewers the overarching benefits of hunting and the outdoor lifestyle. Southern Chaos wants to show audiences that a hunter’s passion for conservation is evident in the woodlands they protect, and their wildlife management programs are what keep nature in balance and big industry in check.
Josh, Garrett and Stephen are out to show that hunting isn’t always about the biggest buck to hit the ground. Sometimes it’s about living in the moment, showing a novice hunter the insights of the woods, or just returning to our natural instincts. They want to show viewers that life is a lesson taught toughest in the woods.
